Wfighter - Lana Stefanac Wins Abu Dhabi Trials

Lana Stefanac wins North American Abu Dhabi Trials
Written by Press Release
May 23, 2009
CALIFORNIA-Today at the Abu Dhabi Trials held in California, American MMA fighter Lana Stefanac tapped out her opponents in under three minutes in all but one fight, and won by a 4-0 decision over Tammy Griego after a 20 minute dual. Now she will represent the country in the Abu Dhabi Tournament on December 27th in Barcelona.
What started out as a distressing situation, brought the FURY out of the fighter, after a last minute struggle to come up the funds to compete; Due to lack of information provided to potential contenders, across the board, reguarding the selection process.
This was the only female tryout the ADCC hosted this year. And offered only two weight classes for females to compete within, which is unsettling to many fighters as it may deem some matches unfair….Keep fighting the good fight for equality ladies. Congratulations and good luck, to go along with your hard work Lana. We’re proud to have you representing the U.S.A. in Spain; Bring the pain!

Press: Who Are the Ladies of Pain?
Interview with Lana Stefanac, USA liaison/manager/captain for Team USA-Ladies of Pain
By Astrid Bidanec from Women Fighters Monthly
Lana:
I formed The Ladies of Pain - Team USA because women, in order to be taken seriously, need to be respected for their ability to fight and compete, which is in my opinion, being accomplished by promoting an all female card.
Currently, women are always under cards, even the well known fighters who have established themselves. Its also my opinion that a women’s fight organization will produce its own stars and give women in different weight divisions a chance to accelerate their career. As it stands, ALL women are expected to or are forced to compete in the 135lbs-division. This is ludicrous.
